A beautiful hand-written French manuscript titled ‘Traité d'hygiène’ (Anatomical Observations & Treatise on Surgery). Each page is eloquently written in black or brown ink with each section drafted by a different hand. Part I is an anatomical treatise chiefly dealing with human anatomy (pp. 3-188) with later portions dealing with the subject of birds (p. 184-88), fish (pp. 177-79) and the digestive system of animals (pp. 180-83). Part II is an extensive treatise on surgery (pp. 193-572).
The manuscript is bound in its original contemporary binding.
This work would suit well for a collector of manuscripts, a doctor’s library or simply as a unique decorative object as an open book on a table or vignette.
Condition: Overall good condition. Lacking pp. 1-2 and any contents after p. 572. Leather binding is worn with the cover warped and front joint split.
