This exquisite 19th century rosewood gaming table embodies the refined craftsmanship of classic antique furniture with its elegant character and multi-functionality. The table’s surface is lustrous and smooth, drawing immediate attention to the contrasting inlaid chessboard where meticulously crafted light and dark squares are set sharply against the rich, figured wood grain. The gameboard folds and rotates with a hinged and swiveling top revealing an accessible drawer and additional green felt-lined bucket drawer which would have been used for storing game pieces or cards. Supporting the gameboard is a single, gracefully curved pedestal base—a significant design element typical of the era—which splits near the floor into four ornate feet, each ending in a stabilizing, bun style feet.
