This beautiful mirror is distinguished by the hallmarks of the French Louis XVI period with its elegant arched upper register surmounted by a scalloped shell motif, border motifs, rosettes and acanthi carved in exceptional relief. The entire frame is altogether beautifully gilt. The mirror, probably original, evinces a handsome patina distressed with age. This mirror exhibits the lush and classic beauty of France’s golden age.
Condition commensurate with age. Minor chips and losses. The glass border mirror along the lower left corner has a hairline crack but remains stable. Photos and a more detailed condition report are available upon request.
