This elegantly executed diminutive copy of Pietro Perugino’s original 1494 painted portrait of Francesco dell’Opere is a lovely antique rendering of a classic Renaissance work. The original portrait by Perugino, exemplifies the aesthetic and philosophical ideals of the Renaissance. Created in the late 15th century, this portrait captures the likeness of Francesco dell'Opere, a significant figure of the time, with meticulous attention to detail and a deep understanding of human emotion. Perugino, a master of fresco and oil painting, employed a soft yet vivid color palette, highlighting the subject’s contemplative expression and noble demeanor. The use of chiaroscuro added depth and dimension, while the subtle background hinted at a serene landscape, emphasizing the harmony between man and nature. The portrait not only serves as a testament to dell'Opere's status but also reflects the broader humanistic ideals of the Renaissance, showcasing the intersection of art, philosophy, and individualism. Perugino's ability to convey both the physical features and the inner character of his subject made this work a compelling study of personality and presence, solidifying its significance in the canon of Western art.

Condition commensurate with age.  Some minor exposure to the wood beneath the ebony veneer where the frame joins are connected.  The painting’s surface has some yellowing due to the old glaze applied to it.  Overall, in generally excellent condition for its age.
