Sweden; probably mid-19th century
Wood, enamel, iron
Approximate size: 84 (h) x 21.75 (w) x 10 (d) in.
This Swedish floor clock boasts a beautifully aged sage-gray finish, revealing glimpses of the original amber-toned wood beneath its weathered surface. Its enamel clock face, complete with classic numerals, adds to its antique appeal. A hand-engraved sunburst motif graces the lower portion of the case, while the upper door is distinguished by a grooved texture. It includes its original key and lock. Restored in 2023 and currently fully functional, although we must advise that due to the delicate nature of its components, we cannot guarantee functionality post-delivery.
Condition commensurate with age. Painted surface areas are naturally distressed due to age. The interior door has a later applied white painted façade. The enamel surface of the clock face features craquelure with some minor losses to its surface. An improvised hook is used to secure the clock door in-place (see photo). Restored to full functionality in 2023 but we cannot guarantee functionality post-delivery due to the delicacy of the clockwork components.
